Enjoying a Safari in Uganda

August 17, 2018 by Thomas Hedley

Source

A safari is always an incredible adventure. There’s just something to special when you’re roaming around pristine and untouched nature, and observing the wonderful animals go about their day. Sometimes they look back, and sometimes they don’t, but they’re always fun to watch – and a safari is just as educational as it’s fun, especially when in Uganda.

Why Uganda

Routinely featured as National Geographic’s top destinations, Uganda is a gorgeous land with unbelievably beautiful sights, amazing animals, and pristine nature that’s impossible to forget about. Every single minute out in the Ugandan wilds is an adventure, and there’s no adventure like a Uganda adventure. With its many natural trails, beautiful Rwenzori Mountains, and even the jewel of Africa that’s the Nile River, it’s impossible to not have a wonderful time in Uganda, especially when on Safari.

What is the Ugandan Safari?

Due to its location in the heart of Africa, there’s an incomparable amount of gorgeous wildlife in Uganda. There’s always a fascinating animal to see, practically any way you look, and while there are no critically endangered species, there are some that are near threatened, or endangered. With many unique animals, like the gorgeous zebra, or the noble giraffe, and the roaming buffalos, there are hundreds of mammals found in the lands on Uganda. What’s also great is that you’ll be constantly surrounded with varied nature, like cultivated apple trees, coffee plantations, wide savannahs, and all around beautiful nature.

When to go on a safari in Uganda

The country of Uganda has arguably the best climate in the entire world. Because the equator runs through the heart of the country, the weather is constantly mild, warm, and it’s great even in the rain season. This means that going on a safari is a year-round affair, as it’s always possible to go on an adventure and roam in the wonderful Ugandan nature to observe its glorious wildlife. While the weather is always good, it’s not always perfect, especially in April and May, but that’s when the safari is most heavily discounted – this doesn’t mean that it’s not a great time to visit, but rather almost not as great as the rest of the year.

Things to do while on a Safari in Uganda

As one of the most beautiful countries in the world, there are numerous things to see and do in Uganda. Namely, Uganda is the spot where the river Nile starts flowing through Africa as it exits Lake Victoria, and water rafting on the Nile is one of the best things to for a little variety between safari expeditions. Lake Victoria also offers plenty of unique spots, as it’s the largest lake in Africa, and is considered one of the most beautiful places to see in all of Uganda.

A safari is always an incredible adventure. Uganda is definitely a place to visit all on its own, but couple with the thrill of a safari it definitely becomes something that everybody should do at least once in their lives, because it’s a completely unforgettable experience.

Pro Tips for a Perfect Cruise

June 18, 2018 by Thomas Hedley

A cruise vacation could be one of the most exhilarating and thrilling trips in one’s life. It offers a unique and delightful combination of lazing away on a deck as you cross endless borders and hopping on and off board as you navigate your way through new cities. Cruising, especially on an Azamara cruises vessel also leaves you with so many things to do on-board! Operating along the Mediterranean region and Northern-Western Europe, these luxury vessels offer delectable world cuisines, gala parties, relaxing spas and fitness centres that make your trip that much more amazing.

However, if you’re planning your first cruise, you could use a couple of tips to ensure that it goes perfectly.

1. A Carry-On Bag

Now, there are so many reasons why having a carry-on bag is so essential when you decide to go on a cruise. It’s advisable to have a small bag in which you pack all your absolute essentials: your toiletries, medication, a swimsuit and at least one change of clothes. Not only does this ensure that you will at least have your absolute essentials in case your luggage gets misplaced, but will also allow you to get going and explore the vessel as soon as you board. It is often a while before your luggage reaches your room and waiting for it can get irritating. Having your essentials with you means that you can get the party started as soon as you want to!

2. Your Passports

You may think that you don’t need to carry your passport because you’re not crossing international borders. Well, it’s advisable to have your passports on you no matter how near or far you’re travelling because you might be asked to produce your passport at unlikely places. Make a note of your cruise destinations and your vessel’s stated passport requirements.

3. Shorts and bathing suits

Agreed, this doesn’t need to be mentioned. However, make sure that the suits and trunks that you carry are comfortable and quick drying. Having sealing pockets also comes in handy quite often, when you need to put in small things like a ring inside the pocket before going for a quick dip. Since packing light is important on a cruise trip, you could also look for reversible suits that you can wear more than once!

4 Chargers and power strips

Imagine being on the deck and running out of charge. It’s not very comfortable running to your room every time your battery drains out. Yes, you’re probably telling yourself that you’re going to spend time connecting with nature and enjoying conversations, but you’re probably still going to want your phone to take the million pictures that you will. So keep the chargers ready because there may not be enough points on the ship. Also, if you’re a gadget freak carrying way too many devices, take that power strip along with you.

Apart from these, also be prepared for the fancy parties with some smart jackets and bring along your soaps and shampoos if you think using anything else is absolutely impossible for you. But most importantly, let your hair down and enjoy the ride!

Making your holidays vacation-ready

April 16, 2018 by Thomas Hedley

Despite getting holidays aplenty, turning them into vacations seem to be a hard task. More often than not, this is because of lack of planning and other causes. However, you could get there if you tried hard enough, or put yourselves out there.
The trick is to go through your holidays step-by-step and plan everything out from before. It’s high time you ditched the weekend trip plan and got yourself into high gear for an extended vacation. It is guaranteed to give you respite, make you feel better, and also help you deal with the coming work week.

  1. Book your hotels in advance

Go to any trip planning website and book your hotels early. On one side, this means you have somethings set ahead, and you can rest your head easy. On the other hand, this means you can concentrate on what is necessary, I.e., the travel plans.
Also, there is a high chance that once you have booked your hotels, you would not back out from your vacation plans no matter what comes about. This is important; sometimes you might have to postpone vacations because of work and other things, but, being determined from before is always a huge plus.

  1. Set up a broad itinerary

Let’s face it; you would never follow-up with all the attractions of the place you are visiting. Keeping a comprehensive itinerary with areas you plan to visit, and things you could do in that area, helps you customize your plans for a particular place. This way, you do not feel guilty for not getting everything on your checklist either.
Being flexible also means you can visit places you had not heard about from the get-go, Depending on which vacation you prefer, this could mean one of the sceneries that none of your travel buddies have seen or an experience that you can hold onto forever.

  1. Find out the laws

There’s nothing worse than a trip where you keep roaming around doing paperwork. Get the legwork in before you embark on your journey and you would be set before you even have to leave your home. Find out the laws related to the children or the pets that will be accompanying you.
There’s nothing quite as bad as having a young furball detained because they did not meet the quota for a vaccine or having to make your children sit for a whole day at the Airport, because of some formalities. So, get familiar with the laws for tourists and be careful.

  1. Be smart

Do not visit the tropics without sunglasses and sunscreen. Do not go to the cold weather areas with only a cardigan to keep you warm. It might sound funny, but, your vacation could be brought down solely by the wrong choice of clothes, or even the wrong selection of the cuisine you are eating.
Don’t get yourself down and be careful as you go on this journey.

Pack your bags and don’t let another summer waste away. We get very little time as professionals anyway, so, getting ourselves out there is a necessity.
