Nikon D750 for Child and Pet Photography

May 24, 2018 by Thomas Hedley

We all love kids and pets. Well, kids are sometimes in need of more attention and pets are sometimes annoying; however, we have to agree that for the most parts of their existence, they are very lovable.

Before your child’s cuteness fades, or before your pet’s enthusiasm for playing around with you fades, it is a must to capture those picture perfect bonds first. Some good memories to immortalize include traveling with your pets and when you are making your holidays vacation-ready with your child.

Why Nikon D750 out of all of them? Read on.

  1. It is good for still imaging.

It is an FX-format camera meaning it uses an FX sensor, which is bigger compared to its counterparts. Not only that the bigger the sensor is the better, FX sensor also has more light gathering area meaning it can literally see more. Having this sensor plus its 24.3 MP makes Nikon D750 ideal for high-resolution imagery.

It can also automatically adapt to DX-dedicated lenses if attached, so it is nonetheless very versatile.

The color range that your pets perceive might be limited compared to ours, yet your child, being a child, loves colors. Nikon D750 with its EXPEED 4 image processor engine makes those colors gradations smooth and the random variation of their brightness low.

If you worry about not capturing the mischief of your kids getting lost, I mean your pets hiding in dark nooks you don’t even know existed. Fear not. Nikon D750 has an expandable ISO 51200. This is already a high value which allows capturing quality images even in low light conditions and it is expandable, so it can still be pushed for more.

  1. It is also good for recorded videos and connectivity.

So how about if your pet or kid goes to places you really won’t fit. No, you’re not that big, not really. It’s just that you need the proper camera to complement the fun. Nikon D750 aside from its Full HD 1080p/60 which is good for video recording, has a tilting 3.2 inches 1,229k-dot LCD monitor which allows you to easily film at low and high angles, and at the same time really get into the fun because what you see in your camera display is so clear.

Also, Nikon D750 built-in WIFI connectivity results to more file sharing with your friends across the internet and you can use your phone to remotely trigger the camera. It is not going to get better than that if we are talking about candid photography or candid filmmaking.

  1. It has an on point autofocus (AF), ideal for your pets’ or kids’ special moments.

Filming your kid’s first walk or taking a photo of your dog that just learned to obey you saying “sit”, or filming the first time your parrot says “I love you”, is something which requires a good deal of autofocus. They need all the attention they can get.

Here, Nikon D750 has a 51-point AF system. It means there are 51 available places across the frame of the picture which the camera automatically chooses from and because of its 15 cross-type points; these vantage points can function well on quick moving subjects.

Well, the problem occurs if your kid has a lot of friends or your pet has its own group too. Don’t worry, with RGB sensor of 91 000 pixels and 3D Color Matrix Metering III system a group of subjects will have an appropriate exposure.

  1. It has two memory card slots you should know how to use.

Nobody wants to forget the good old days. Nikon D750 even got your memory covered. It has the ability to record raw or uncompressed video to an external recorder.

The above statement only functions like a reinforcement or a plan B, because Nikon D750 already has a 2 built in memory card slots. It is imperative that you should know how to use them properly.

It is all about configuring the proper settings. Role played by card in Slot 2 dialog box will give you three options: overflow, backup and RAW slot 1 – JPEG slot 2.

If overflow, saved data go to the first card, then when it is full, Nikon D750 starts saving to the second card. If backup, Nikon D750 will save data to the two memory cards at the same time. If RAW slot 1 – JPEG slot 2 is chosen, data is saved to one card in RAW while the same data is also saved to the second card in JPEG.

If you have two memory cards with 4GB to 8GB capacity, choose overflow. If you have memory cards with big capacity, like both of them is 64 GB, use backup. Backup is very useful in case one memory card is damaged, you’ll have the other one as backup. In that case, you are very sure that those captured moments with your kid or pet are insured.

If you have two memory cards with two different capacities, choose the last: RAW slot 1 – JPEG slot 2 option. Use the one with bigger capacity for the RAW and the other with smaller capacity for the JPEG, since RAW files are unprocessed files which require more space.

And if you want find the perfect memory card for Nikon D750, Cameraseals will help you with that https://cameraseals.com/best-memory-cards-for-nikon-d750/

So now you know why NikonD750 loves your child and pet as much as you love them too! Getting to know this product is getting to know the right way to the heart of your kid and pet.

Photographing The World’s most underrated views

February 22, 2018 by Thomas Hedley

Instagram is flooded with panoramic shots of the most famous views on Planet Earth; searching ‘Grand Canyon’ brings you back no fewer than 2.4 million posts! Of course, there’s a reason these images are so shareable: they never fail to impress and give people serious travel envy.

With these most famous views getting all the attention, there are a host of other, lesser-known and lesser acknowledged, views just waiting to be enjoyed. If you’re a true adventurer, why not set out to capture some of these images before they become too busy?

The magical light in Utah’s canyon parks

A little further down the road from the mega-famous Grand Canyon, lies Bryce Canyon National Park. The incredibly clear skies here — often providing up to 100 miles of visibility — make for sensational photographs, and the way the light shifts through the day gives the rock-face a pink-orange-red hue, which is breathtaking even without the use of Instagram filters! Lodging in Bryce Canyon puts you right at the heart of it, with acres of private land and exclusive canyons to explore.

NYC’s evolving skyline from DUMBO

Arguably the most famous shot taken in New York City is from atop the Empire State Building, with views down on to Central Park and across the Hudson into Brooklyn and Williamsburg. Yet, if you cross the river and find a spot in a place named DUMBO – Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass – you’ll be able to take in the whole of NYC’s impressive skyline, including one of the most interesting buildings: The Empire State.

What’s truly exciting about this perspective on The Big Apple, is that each time you go, it’ll look slightly different; buildings come up and down, facades alter, and boats move along the river bank. Come back at nighttime to see the city lit up, and once again, experience a totally different visual spectacle.

Mt Rinjani, Lombok: a view over the Island of the Gods

Bali has long been the preferred holiday destination in Indonesia, but Lombok has much to offer. Take the three-day hike on Mount Rinjani, and reach its peak by sunrise, to be rewarded with sensational sights over a crater lake from one side and on the other, a panorama across the Lombok Strait to the picturesque cluster of Gili Islands and Island of the Gods, Bali, beyond.

Set your camera to a small aperture and high f-stop for best results.

Outsmart the tourists in Agra

Even if you wake at the crack of dawn, to be at the gates of the Taj Mahal when it opens at 6am, you’ll still queue to enter with the crowds of other visitors also keen to get an unpopulated view — and photograph — of the UNESCO site.

Instead, get your camera prepared for a trip to the Tomb of I’timād-ud-Daulah, also a mausoleum with intricate and jaw-dropping architecture but — crucially — the peace and quiet a resting place deserves, and that you’ll need to get a mesmerising photo.

Top Reasons Why to Specialize In Drone Traveling Photography

November 1, 2017 by Thomas Hedley

Are you a photographer? Do you like to travel and take photos of the places you visit? Have you considered specializing in drone travel photography? It will certainly open new horizons in your profession.

Photography itself is a wonderful art, hobby, and profession if you do it for a living. But, when you are shooting from the ground, you are limited as you can’t reach all the possible angles. On the other hand, if you use a drone with a camera, all of a sudden, there are no more limits as you can line up the drone for that perfect shot, from literally any angle you think of.

In this article, I will name a few examples why you should think about drone traveling photography, and by the end of this read, you will definitely make the first steps towards your new career or a hobby.

It is Unbelievably Fun!

Traveling itself is fun, you get to meet new people, see new places, and build up memories that will last you a lifetime. If you add a camera to that equation, and the fun factor rises as you will have photo and video memories, which will warm your heart for years to come, and which you can also use to set up a travel blog and maybe earn some additional money.

But, if you manage to find the best drone with HD camera, and start carrying it with you on your trips, not only that your video/photo blog will climb a bunch of steps on the content quality ladder,  but your trips will also become way more interesting. I mean, C’mon, how can flying and shooting videos and photos with a drone be boring?! Right?

Also, drones are relatively a new technology (commercial drones at least) and not everyone has one. Therefore, they are extremely interesting to people and they will want to talk you about it and ask you questions. Making tons of cool new friends on my trips? Check!

It Opens Up New Business Possibilities

As I mentioned above, using a drone for photography and videography, gives you an advantage over Blogs and Vlogs that still use just the traditional (from the ground) photos and footage. You can start your own travel blog and present cool aerial photos of some landmarks or scenery from the already seen places, but from a new perspective.

If you become good at it, you can even earn money. For example, drones photos sell really well on the sites where people need photos for their sites. I mean, a photo of, for example a city, looks much more interesting from a bird’s eye view than one taken from the ground. It will sell easier and faster.

Another great example, are tourist agencies. They will be much more interested in working with a drone travel photographer than with a regular “land” photographer. Aerial footage and photos of the exotic destinations they offer will attract more clients, simple as that.

You Can Earn Money On the Go

Do I need to emphasize more how useful having a drone on your trips is? Not only that you will get breathtaking shots and footage, but you will always have a chance to earn some money on the side. For example, local tourist agencies.

Why should you pay for an awesome island hopping tour and cripple your planned budget when you can get it for free? You can offer giving them mesmerizing aerial footage and images of the tour, the beaches and islands included in the tour, the happy, waving tourists on their company’s boat in the middle of the sea, in exchange for a free tour.

Hotels, hostels, city tours, are all possibilities for you to save on your budget, have fun while doing a job that will last an hour or less, and build up your professional portfolio as well. Do you need more reasons? Yes? Okay, here’s another one.

You can go to Places You Already Visited but See Them With New Eyes

If you have new places to discover and take photos of, and I am sure you have, then great. With a DSLR camera around your neck, and a drone in your backpack, you will surely make great images and footage of new exotic destinations.

However, have you considered going back to places you already visited? If you are thinking “Okay, I  might still have a few new landmarks to discover and new photos to make, but in the places I have already been, I pretty much documented everything so why should I go back there again?”

Well, it’s true that you shot almost everything there is to shoot, but you did it from the ground, remember? Imagine taking aerial photos of the Great Pyramids in Egypt, or city landscape of Paris from some 100 meters up in the air. Now tell me again that with a drone on you, you still don’t have a reason to revisit some destinations…

Drone Photography Competitions

No, I didn’t make this up, Drone Photography Competitions exist and are becoming more and more popular. Photography experts have realized that drone photography is becoming an art of its own and is more and more praised in the photography communities.

So, if you want to turn your name into a brand that is well recognized in the photography world, you can start entering such competitions. If you are already a photographer, then you already possess the knowledge to frame the image perfectly, to find the best angle, and to later use editing tools to make the photo breathtaking. This means that you have a head start over “Drone photographers” who received an expensive drone for their birthday, became “Pros” over night, and enter every possible competition just to get their name exposed and try to win an award.

A Few Advices Before You Go

Flying drones is fun, and if you have a small, toy-grade model that weighs under 500 grams and doesn’t have a camera, you are pretty much free to fly it anywhere as long as you don’t endanger anyone around you.

However, in your case, for photography purposes, you will definitely have a camera and it will definitely be heavier than 500 grams. So, this means that if needs to be registered, and you also have to have a license that shows you are trained to operate the drone. Also, with such a model, you can’t just take it up in the air and shoot whatever you want. Most countries have specific rules that define how high and far you can go with your drone, what locations are allowed to be photographed with drones, and for which you need special permits, and there are also places that are completely banned for drones and drone photography.

So, before you decide to go to a certain country or a destination, make sure you check all the rules and apply for all the needed permits before getting there. It will take you just a few minutes of research on the internet and a few sent mails, but you will avoid the risk of your drone being taken away and paying a fine. With that in mind, travel, take photos, fly safe, and have fun!
