August 28, 2019 by Thomas Hedley

Whether you’re an avid traveller or someone who just likes to get away from it all on occasion, it’s entirely possible that you will like to take advantage of time away from work to focus on things that you love to do, such as hiking, exploring, art and music or cooking. If you’re planning a great getaway, you might be wondering where you can go that will allow you to exercise your interests as well. Here are a couple great options for travel ideas for thrillseekers.

Botswana

Botswana is a landlocked country where many people flock to see some of the area’s most important wildlife. The Okavango Delta is located in Botswana, a hugely important ecosystem of flora and fauna in the area. This is one of the major points of interest in all of Botswana, with a number of safari companies bringing tourists to the area. If you want a real treat of African wildlife, this is the place you need to see. Boat trips are just one of the ways you can explore the area, but any safari operator will provide you with excellent options if you want to add this to your itinerary.

Colombia

Formerly considered one of the most dangerous countries on the planet due to the cocaine trade, since the dissolution of the FARC, Colombia has grown its tourist infrastructure and industry to become one of the biggest up and comers when it comes to tourism. Not only can you visit impressive beaches, but also cocoa plantations, coffee plantations and beautiful mountain regions where hiking is ample, the people are friendly and you’re sure to have an experience that will leave you with lasting memories.

Iraq

If you’ve ever thought about travelling to a truly wondrous location with a deep history and ancient sites, Iraq is one of the best places. While it’s entirely possible to visit some of the more “shady” places such as Babylon which is out of the “safe zone”, parts of Iraqi Kurdistan are perfectly safe and include cities such as Erbil, where you can find high class accommodation and plentiful sources for restaurants and other tourist sites of interest.

Russia

Russia has for a long time been somewhat a strange and unique option for travellers who are looking for something new and unusual for trips and adventures. With a number of cities to choose from for exploring including Moscow, St Petersburg and Yekaterinburg in the western part of the country, there’s a whole host of options for almost any class and type of traveller. One of the most interesting and unusual ways to explore the country is through taking the Trans-Siberian Railway across the country from Moscow to…wherever! If you’re feeling brave, why not take it all the way to Beijing? It’s possible!

So if you’ve been looking for some truly adventurous travel options, why not consider one of the choices above? There are literally so many cool, adventurous places to choose from, it’s no wonder adventure travel is becoming more and more sought after. So what are you waiting for? Get those bags packed and pick your top place to explore this year. Enjoy!

4 places to see exotic animals

May 28, 2018 by Thomas Hedley

If you are passionate about wildlife and want to take your travel binoculars to gaze at some of the most wondrous species out there, we’re here to give you a hand. Some of those we’ve included in our list can be jotted down on a list of the weirdest animals in the world, but some are downright beautiful and will captivate you with their looks and behavior.

Without further ado, here are four places where you can see exotic animals.

West Virginia and Red Pandas

Even though it is located in the United States, the zoo where red pandas live is one of the most unique destinations you can travel to. Of course, visiting them does come at a cost, because for two people, you’ll have to pay as much as $165 for the ticket. For this price, you can even interact with the animals, which is an experience you will enjoy, for sure.

Visitors are advised that the little pandas might try to climb on them in order to get fed. Keep in mind that you are only allowed to feed the animals what the zoo staff recommends. It will be difficult for you to avoid taking one in your arms and giving it a hug.

Serengeti, Tanzania

We couldn’t make up our minds about the most interesting animal species you could see here, and that’s because it has a population of 2 million wild ones composed of gazelles, zebras, as well as predators such as cheetahs, leopards, lions, and crocodiles.

Besides, the giraffes and elephants will sweep you off of your feet, especially if you’ve never seen any before. Going to Serengeti will be an experience you might never forget. Just keep in mind that you can’t see these species up-close, especially if they are predators.

Uganda

It’s pretty difficult to get to see Uganda’s mountain gorillas, and that’s because you’ll have to do a lot of climbing to get there. There are porters that will carry your bags for a fee, however, so that might make it easier.

Mountain gorillas are among the critically endangered species currently inhabiting the Earth. If you do decide to take a trip to Uganda, it will be an amazing experience, and that’s because you can get a glimpse of tender moments between a gorilla mother and her son or daughter. These animals do not like interacting with humans and they will avoid contact with them, although at times they might not even care less as long as you do not invade their space.

Northern India

The snow leopard resides in some parts of Northern India, but it is so elusive that you might not be able to get to see one. However, if you can’t hold back, you can camp in some areas and wait for the predator to make his or her appearance. It’s often that leopards stalk bharals, so you should ask around to see where you can set up camp and take your photos.
