So much goes into planning the perfect trip. While the first step—selecting a destination is easy; it’s what happens next that’s more challenging. You have to figure out where to stay, assess what your modes of transportation will be, find out how many will be in your travel party, figure out dates, etc. Yes, planning a trip can quickly become both stressful and exciting, which is why it’s important to do everything you can to simplify as much as you can. And there are three travel apps that do precisely that: make traveling easier.
Here’s which apps you should check out for your next trip:
This is the app to use if you need to do group planning. Having multiple people to travel with means having to coordinate what attractions you’ll see, places you’ll eat at and shops you’ll browse. Everyone has a different idea of how their experience will be, which is why it’s important to rein everything in and effectively plan things together. PlanChat let’s you track everyone’s plans. And what’s unique is that you can take pictures or videos to facilitate the planning process.
Picture being in the perfect location in the entire world, but not having access to the Internet—it happens all the time. But you need to find a connection to access Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. and share your travel experiences. There’s an app that helps with Wi-Fi and it’s Wiffinity.
Wiffinity finds unlocked Wi-Fi passwords near you, which you can then use. Always be cautious of public Wi-Fi—it may not be the safest connection. You should however, make sure you are staying at a safe hotel with security monitoring.
3. The Fork
The Fork is like an international version of Yelp. You can search different menus, customer reviews and food images of 30,000+ restaurants spread across 10 countries. These countries include: Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Italy, Turkey, Sweden and Switzerland. The app has a loyalty program as well, which allows users to use significant discounts (of up to 50 percent) on their next meal.
4. Cool Cousin
If you are traveling abroad and want to experience the locations frequented by the locals, Cool Cousin is the app to use. It’ll help you explore areas that aren’t all designated tourist traps. If you are traveling within the U.S., there is a similar app to use called Localeur, which provides the same travel experience.
5. Monument Tracker
Monument Tracker is an app that does exactly as it sounds—keeps track of monuments and historical places near you. So when you set off for your destination, you can use the app to see what is close by and create an itinerary. As you approach a monument or historical site, the app will alert you of any other nearby areas to check out.
